High temperature sacrifices your independency
Are you independent and stand up for yourself?
Well, you think you are, 'til you get a high temperature. You wake up with sweat all over your body, pain in the neck. You may also have a sore throat. But what worries you most is your temperature. Normally within 36-37° C, now your temperature is 38, 39, 40 or even more. How do we know this? Well, thank God for the great invention of the thermometer. But if you don't own one, then what happens?
"It's easy", you may say. "You go to the doctor, he prescribes you some relevant medication and off you go." Fine! That is being independent, isn't it?
Or are you more dependent than you think you are? Are there other solutions to consider when you have a fever? Well, there must be, but it may not be convenient, or you may not have the time to seek an alternative. The truth is that if you gave this some thought and some time you would find alternatives. My mother says "Drink some water and the headache will disappear." But will I still have a fever?
My point here is that we are dependent on medications and therefore have to rely on doctors, nurses and other people working within health care. Medications, rehab, you name it, we are stuck - or should i say, enslaved? Of course, as far as what medications and treatment have meant for the human race in the past and present, we should be thankful. I am most grateful personally, and many studies have been and continue to be valuable for treating and curing many kinds of diseases. I am truly grateful to those tireless workers in the medical field, but I am also worried about the future and what will become of medical care.
Can we take control of our own health and begin to understand the inner workings of our bodies? I believe that when anybody loses their independence they also lose part of themselves. So why not try to figure out who you are inside and believe that you can see alternatives when the easiest way seems to be far away?
I hate having a fever, and I would immediately take two aspirins and go back straight to bed, but, then what's the next step? Wait till I will wake up and hope that everything is gone? If not, I'll go see a doctor. It's too easy. What to do if i can't see a doctor? What to do if there are no more medications to take? What if there is nobody around you but yourself - who do you consult then?
Start relying on yourself and be as independent as you can, or someone will take away your independence.
